Portugal IFICI regime: One of the most confusing factors is that you can incorporate your own local service company for your startup abroad and qualify for the regime, paying 20% on local income and 0% on foreign income for 10 years.

Combined with 0% on crypto-assets held for over 365 days, Portugal can offer good terms to those relocating there.

That said, it's important to note that this is not an "off-the-shelf" structure nor a one-size-fits-all solution.

Portugal is not a tax haven - an important thing to keep in mind; the foundational concept behind this regime relies on the intent of attracting talent and although there can be some degree of tax optimization - including the 0% tax regime on certain sources, you will pay some taxes as default.

An equally misinterpreted aspect is that the IFICI regime may not be the best fit for those with an annual income in the range of $50k or so. If you are under 35 years old, in those cases, there's a dedicated regime that could be more convenient.

If you applied for the IFICI and want to share some experiences, please do so. I am doing some research on this topic and would love to collect feedback and opinions
