Just when you thought you couldn’t love The Guardian enough - they come out with this gem:
“The whole social contract of Dubai involves a wilful blindness to the proximity of suffering and violence. After all, Gaza is geographically close.”
I guess when you have a double degree in Art and Law you don’t need geography as well.
Dubai is “geographically close” to Gaza, in much the same way Warsaw and Venice are.
If that is too hard, maybe noting that Tunis, Algiers and Marrakech are all much closer to London than Dubai is to Gaza. Moscow is about the same distance from London, as are the Azores.
I know… I know… friends don’t let friends read The Guardian. My bad.
