My response:

It all stems from the rejection of the doctrine of original sin. And once one accepts that obvious doctrine, one recognizes the need for salvation by the God-man who lived obedience through to the ignominious death on a cross to redeem our human nature and extended that redemption through the Holy Spirit by instituting the Church and its sacraments for the participation of any of the human race who will choose to participate obviating all delusions of utopia.
