I get what you're going for, but it seems you are really out of touch with “the poorest” in our society. Even ignoring them and focusing on the working poor with stable housing - if someone’s trying to fight their way out of poverty, how much time do you think they have to write their thoughts, read classical literature, and learn how to play instruments? None of those translate to economic advantages to people in that class, so they aren't going to be the focus. Learning how to cook is the only cost effective thing on this list for a person with little to no extra time on their hands.
