Disney sued Google and ByteDance—the two companies that own both cloud infrastructure and generative AI platforms. Then its $1 billion OpenAI deal collapsed. Warner Bros. Discovery's Superman enters the public domain in 2034 and Batman in 2035. Neither company has a cloud partner that can protect its IP from AI-generated derivatives at scale. The only companies building those barriers in the cloud are Oracle (through the Ellisons), Google and ByteDance—and Hollywood has been treating two of the three as enemies. The AI era rewards leverage at the cloud level. Studios and IP holders focusing on any other level are misaligned.
