Sounds like they should just change the name of “Snow White”, the Disney remake, to “Burnt Toast”.

It is problematic making a movie in 2024 about a young woman with skin “as white as snow”. The intense hatred felt by so many for white skin—which one might call racist as fuck if one were racist (we are told)—meant Disney went rather ironically in the casting. So, not so much Snow White, as caffè latte tan, with a little Jew throw in just to fuck with the Nazis, right?

Then they got another Jew, an Israeli in fact, Gal Godot, to play the evil step-mom. Thing is, I kinda think Gal Godot would win in the Magic Mirror thing against Rachel Zegler. So, what? Is Disney gonna bribe the mirror to make the plot come out? Or maybe the whole plot is built around Caffè Latte Tan demanding and getting affirmations she does not really rate, because affirmative action?

So, I can totally imagine the Krautosphere being upset at this casting, and we’re not even gonna go into the minefield over dwarves and how Peter Dinklage is not happy. That was never gonna play out OK for anyone.

But the thing that is sinking Snow White is something really, really extra fucking stupid—it has fallen victim to competing boycott calls from Palestinians AND pro-Israel groups because the two stars have voiced support for both Israel (Gadot) and the other guys (Zegler).

Whatever they are using to think with over at Disney seems to have gotten awfully moldy. Because this is about as nuts in terms of bad marketing as it gets.
