Mantra for April 8 – The Load-Bearing Wall

“Support is a structural necessity.”

I once visited an old cathedral and noticed the massive stone pillars reaching toward the ceiling. They weren't just decorative; they were the only things keeping the roof from collapsing under its own weight. If one pillar were removed, the integrity of the entire space would be compromised.

In our lives, we often try to be the sole architect, builder, and foundation. We view asking for help as a design flaw. But a purposeful life requires load-bearing walls—mentors, friends, and communities who share the weight. Without them, we eventually crack under the pressure of our own ambitions.

Today, identify your load-bearing walls:

  • Notice where you are carrying a weight that feels too heavy for one person.

  • Reach out to someone and share a piece of that burden—a thought, a task, or a worry.

  • Be the support for someone else’s structure by offering a listening ear.

  • At day’s end, reflect: “Today I allowed myself to be supported.”

We are not built to stand alone, but to hold each other up.
