Mantra for May 7 – The Hearth of the Heart

“The fire that tests us also warms us.”

In winter, fire is what keeps life going. It gives warmth, light, and survival. But the same fire, if left untended, can destroy everything. The difference is the hearth—a contained space that holds the flame and directs its purpose.

Adversity brings fire into our lives. It can turn into bitterness, anger, or burnout if it spreads without direction. But when held with awareness, it becomes something else entirely: warmth, clarity, and even compassion for others. The same fire that once threatened you can become what helps others find their way.

Today, tend your fire:

  • Notice what your current struggle is producing—anger, urgency, or passion.

  • Channel that energy into one constructive action or kind act.

  • Don’t let pain harden you—keep it warm, not destructive.

  • Use your experience to offer steadiness to someone going through their own cold season.

At the end of the day, reflect: “Today I used my heat to light the way.”

The fire does not define you—but how you hold it does.
