Claude has a memory problem. Here's how to fix it.

Every time you open a new Claude conversation, it has no idea who you are. No context. No history. Blank slate.

That means if you don't tell it anything, you get generic output. And generic output wastes your time.

The fix is a system prompt — a block of text you paste at the start of any conversation that tells Claude who you are, what you do, and what you need from it. I keep mine in a note on my phone. It covers my role, my organization, my two facilities, and what I'm usually trying to accomplish.

Takes five seconds to paste. Changes everything about the quality of what comes back.

GPT and Gemini have the same problem. Same fix works there too.

Do this today: Write three sentences about your role and your org. Paste them at the top of your next AI conversation before you type anything else. Notice the difference.
