George "Mule" Suttles, first baseman mostly for the Newark Eagles and St. Louis Stars, was born on this date in 1901. A five-time All-Star, he won two batting titles and the Triple Crown in 1926. A .339 hitter, Suttles was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2006.
