George "Rube" Waddell, pitchers mostly for the Philadelphia Athletics and St. Louis Browns, died on this date in 1914. A four-time 20 game winner, he led the league in strikeouts six times, in ERA twice, and won the Triple Crown in 1905. Waddell was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1946.
