Ross Youngs, outfielder for the New York Giants, was born on this date in 1897. An eight-time .300 hitter, he scored 100 runs three times, had 200 hits twice, and led the league in doubles in 1919. Youngs was a .322 career hitter and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1972.
