Red Ruffing, pitcher mostly for the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, was born on this date in 1905. A six-time All-Star, he won 20 games four times and led the league in 1938. Ruffing was part of six World Series winners, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1967.
