Gus Bell, outfielder mostly for the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates, died on this date in 1995. A four-time All-Star, he led the league in triples in 1951, batted .300 twice, and had 100 RBI four times. Bell hit 206 homers and had 1,823 hits in his 15-year career.
