Norman "Turkey" Stearnes, outfielder mostly for the Detroit Stars and Chicago American Giants, was born on this date in 1901. A five-time All-Star, he led the league in homers seven times and won two batting titles. Stearnes was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2000.
