Tony Gwynn, outfielder for the San Diego Padres, was born on this date in 1960. A 15-time All-Star, he won eight batting titles and five Gold Gloves, and led the league in hits seven times. Gwynn was a .338 career hitter with 3,141 hits, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2007.
