Rip Sewell, pitcher mostly for the Pittsburgh Pirates, was born on this date in 1907. A four-time All-Star, and the cousin of Hall of Famer Joe Sewell, he won 20 games twice and led the league in wins and win percentage once each. Sewell had a record of 143-97 in 13 seasons with a 3.48 career ERA.
