Felipe Alou, outfielder mostly for the San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves, was born on this date in 1935. A three-time All-Star, he batted .300 three times and led the league in hits twice. Alou later managed the Giants and the Montreal Expos, winning 1,033 games in 14 years.
