James ""Cool Papa" Bell, outfielder mostly for the St. Louis Stars and Pittsburgh Crawfords, was born on this date in 1903. An eight-time All-Star, he batted .300 sixteen times and led the league in steals eight times. Bell was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1974.
