interesting thing I’ve noticed: when I send newsletters regularly, it leads to declining subscribers - the rise below was when I didnt send for a few weeks

hypothesis: being on this platform so long, most subscribers are now via recommendations, which seems like my account is growing, but quality is pretty low, meaning most people find my newsletter and have no context, and unsubscribe or ignore

newsletters used to be high signal, showing that people really want to read your stuff

now it shows that the UX is getting them to add a bunch of subs without knowing who you are

As an online writer, everything falls apart if people don’t trust me via email.

I’m not sure what the future stack looks like but I am likely going to be changing things up in 2026
