This is true. And it can also be helpful to see how hurt many of these people are and how not worth it it is.

On default paths (including the self employed paths that the psychologically extreme are repaving) you will have to go hard to keep up because the narrow confines of the games means those hard grinding types will suck up all the random space to play and turn it into properly priced energy.

The way off is just to orient around your own weird principles, trusting your shifting curiosity, or serving out some of the fun space in a fast growing space.

It’s not guaranteed success but from what I’ve seen much higher odds of life satisfaction.

There is a massive gap between the average person’s level of ambition and those of top performers. Until you’ve seen it up close or read a few biographies, it’s hard to realize the pathological urge some people feel to improve their skills, to set absurd goals, and to do what’s necessary to achieve them.
