This work is considered by many to be the most significant philosophical work of the 20th century and also one of the most difficult.
Published in 1927, Being & Time attempted to correct 2,000+ years of mistaken philosophy that resulted from separating subject and object (Aristotle, Descartes) and make it possible to properly consider once again the most fundamental philosophical question “What does it mean to exist?”.
Heidegger argued that human beings are the unique beings for which their own existence is a question.
I am considering running a weekly meeting designed for beginners that patiently walks them through Being & Time over the course of several months.
But I need to gauge the level of interest first, as it would be a large undertaking to serve as your guide. If I were to do it, I would do it right with proper lessons, handouts, and study materials that demystify this masterwork.
Would anyone be interested in taking on this ultimate intellectual challenge with me?
(Update: I am launching the course on March 15th through the Micro-University on my Substack home page).
