I learn languages to read literature. This means that my reading level is very advanced in several languages, but my conversation skills are virtually non-existent. In French, for instance, I know all these useless words like “bodice” and “charterhouse,” but then I have no clue how to say, “what’s the WiFi password” or “you down to hang out?”
