Today is an important holiday in Russia, and an important day for my family. May 9th is Victory Day or День Победы—a national holiday that celebrates the Soviet victory over the Nazis on May 9, 1945—and the end of the Third Reich.

My grandpa was one of few Jewish colonels on the front lines. He recently turned 100, and we’re going to celebrate with him tonight.

My grandparents are always awed by the powers of the mystical internet, so please join me in wishing him a happy Victory Day. He’ll be overjoyed in hearing so many wishes from all across the world. 🫶🏻
