They're sneaking up to their prey. They agress, then try to blend in again, then they agress, etc, until they are upon their prey. The predator is then free to have their way with the prey. In the animal world, this would be a matter of food ingestion for survival. Historically for humans this has led more to mass graves in pursuit of some desired result.
