Everyone told me my three content pillars would never work together:
On paper, they have no business being in the same publication. In practice, they're all saying the same thing: your life is yours to design.
That's the unifying idea. Not a niche in the traditional sense, but a worldview. And 18,000 subscribers later, something is clearly working.
So here's what I actually believe about the niche advice: you don't need to write about one narrow topic. You need to write about multiple things in a way that points back to one central idea. The topics are just different doors into the same room.
So, instead of "what's my niche?" the question becomes: "what do all the things I want to write about have in common?"
Answer that and your publication has a foundation. A point of view.
