Britain’s only route to a better future is its people.
Investing in people should come first. Our skills, our education, our well-being, our creativity, our innovation, our relationships, our character, our communities, our families, our sense of possibility. In short, our humanity.
That means education should always be the number one priority. But it isn’t.
Britain is in danger of being left behind. As other countries forge ahead with education reforms, we are proving too sluggish, too conservative, too timid, to make the changes to our schools that would catapult our people to the cutting edge of future jobs and innovation.
The gap between what is taught in our schools and what young people need to thrive has never been bigger.
