The Fujairah Oil Industry Zone is one of the few oil terminals that sits outside the Strait of Hormuz, with current capacity of ~1.5 million bpd.
That is not likely a coincidental target by Iran. Any export capacity that does not require transit through the Strait of Hormuz undermines their strategic leverage in the Strait.
This is also why the Strait must be an international water way with unimpeded rights of transit passage for all countries. If Iran seeks to control the Strait they necessarily have to prevent or destroy alternatives to the Strait.
Very likely, Israel will soon respond to this attack on Fujairah. Remember, the United Arab Emirates signed the Abraham Accords with Israel. Israel has already deployed their Iron Dome missile defense systems in the UAE to assist in the Emirates air defense, and former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is confirming that Israel will help defend its ally.
The United Arab Emirates, our strategic ally, has just been attacked by Iran.
This is, in effect, a declaration of the renewal of Iran’s war against the allies of the United States and Israel across the region.
This regional alliance is vital to our security and to the security of the moderate partners in the Middle East and the Gulf.
Iran continues to try to intimidate the region and poses a threat to global security.
We stand with our ally.

Iran is no victim in any of this, and never was.
