Anthony Blinken announcing $157 Million in aid to Lebanon, because the (Biden-)Harris Administration is committed to supporting those in need and delivering essential aid to displaced civilians….except in North Carolina and Georgia.

The U.S. is at the forefront of humanitarian response to the growing crisis in Lebanon, announcing nearly $157 million in assistance today. We are committed to supporting those in need and delivering essential aid to displaced civilians, refugees and the communities hosting them.

What’s happening in Lebanon is horrible. Ukraine has been devastated by war. Gaza has been devastated by war. There is no denying these basic realities.

There is no denying that there are people in those areas who are deserving of aid and compassion. All wars have their victims. That a major reason why “war is Hell.”

But there is also no denying that there is extreme suffering taking place right here in the United States. In North Carolina and Georgia, in places such as Asheville, and Valdosta, and too many other communities to mention, people have had their homes literally washed away. They have seen their communities destroyed, They have seen friends and loved ones killed by the irresistable forces of Mother Nature.

And they are Americans.

The people of Asheville are far more our neighbors than the people of Lebanon. The people of Valdosta are for more our neighbors than the people Ukraine or the people of Gaza.

There is suffering throughout the world and we should have care and compassion for all who suffer everywhere. But American taxpayer dollars need to be spent first and foremost on Americans. We need to attend to our own AND THEN attend to others.

That’s not only the right thing to do, that’s the righteous thing to do.
