Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, but many stories remain overlooked. Disabled enslaved people lived at the intersection of racism, exploitation, and ableism. Some were injured by the conditions of slavery itself, yet were still forced to work or left without support when they could no longer labor.
