I’ve long had a joke idea for a podcast that today is striking me as maybe a good idea: once a month, an author and I, while either intoxicating or caffeinating ourselves, talk through the author’s good and bad reviews, both in professional venues and on fora like goodreads. For the first half hour, we try really hard to read the bad reviews as charitably as possible and in the last half hour we let rip. I think this would be extremely entertaining and maybe enlightening, but I’m not sure it would be good for anyone’s soul. That last point is the only reason I’m not doing it.
