Make money doing the work you believe in

Pope Leo has rarely missed an opportunity to praise Pope Francis. But he has quietly hit the brakes on some of his predecessor’s initiatives— particularly in the area of Vatican financial affairs.

Now Pope Leo has summarily reversed one of Pope Francis’ decisions. In February of this year, the former Pontiff established a commission to coordinate Vatican fundraising. Now in December Pope Leo has abolished it. His decree does not spell out his reasons for the move, but makes it clear that the commission was not properly structured.

It’s not a major move, and certainly not a dramatic one. But it’s the first time that Pope Leo has repudiated something that Pope Francis did.

Let’s hope it’s the first of many.
