Make money doing the work you believe in

Two American bishops, each chairing a committee of the bishops’ conference, have issued a statement upholding the right of citizens to engage in peaceful protests. The statement is obviously occasioned by confrontations in Minnesota.

Leave aside the question of whether the activists in Minnesota were entirely peaceful. Just focus on this passage:

  • Law abiding citizens should not fear being wrongfully targeted or detained while going about daily life. No citizen should fear exercising his or her constitutional rights.

Does it strike you that this sort of statement could have been released by the US bishops’ conference when the Biden administration was sending SWAT teams to burst into private homes and arrest people who had engaged in peaceful protests outside abortion clinics?
