Now the world’s attention turns to the Strait of Hormuz, and the tight squeeze on world oil supplies.
President Trump has threatened: “If Iran does anything that stop the flow of oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far.”
Here’s why that threat won’t work:
Last week Trump demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” thereby indicating that he won’t negotiate with the current regime. So the regime’s leaders have nothing to gain by acceding to his demands. He’s not offering any carrot— only the stick.
And what’s the stick? Trump says that “we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a Nation, again.”
That sounds horrible— for future generations of Iranians. But for the current regime leaders? They don’t care! These are the leaders who just recently slaughtered 30,000 of their own people; these are the leaders who honor suicide bombers. They are guided not by care for their society but by hatred for their enemy. They have nothing to lose.
