Dutch Cardinal Willem Eijk doesn’t pull his punches. The report from Study Group #9 is “a fundamental contradiction of Catholic teaching that demands a forceful response.”

He backs my argument that the release of this report— which contains (and does not contest) clear dissent— is “a clear attempt to weaken the proclamation of Catholic moral teaching.” The cardinal does not specify who is making that attempt. But he does promise that “the faithful can be assured that a number of cardinals and bishops will make their objections known…”
