St. Paul said (Rom 16:17) “I appeal to you, brethren, to take note of those who create dissensions and difficulties, in opposition to the doctrine which you have been taught; avoid them.”
He also said (Gal 1:8): “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed.”
St. John said (1 John 1:9-10) “Any one who goes ahead and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the doctrine has both the Father and the Son. If any one comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into the house or give him any greeting.”
The Council of Trent said (7th session, Decree on the Sacraments, Canon X) “If any one saith, that all Christians have power to administer the word, and all the sacraments, let him be anathema.”
The same Council said (7th session, Decree on Baptism, Canon IV) “If any one saith, that the baptized are freed from all the precepts, whether written or transmitted, of holy Church… let him be anathema.”
Cardinal Mario Grech, speaking to German Catholics about the process of synodality, said: “This means having no fear of differences; rather than allowing them to become sources of conflict and opposition, we make them grounds for discernment, for mutual listening, and for a shared desire to follow the Risen One and to recognize the signs of the times.”
