Four years later, the trial of Father Marko Rupnik continues, the Vatican assures us. And that’s all we know. We know nothing at all about the trial: not even what canonical charges have been entered against Rupnik.

The victims— the women who accused Rupnik of sexual and spiritual abuse— are also in the dark. For all they know, he could be on trial for something(s) completely separate from their accusations.

The oddities of canon law may explain why the judges have not heard the testimony of the victims. But why haven’t their charges been heard— or headlined — by the mainstream media?
