“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” [Ex. 20:8]

“To sanctify Sunday, it is fundamental to celebrate the Eucharist,” Pope Leo said at his weekly public audience today. He continued:

In this assembly, the Christian community makes visible its communion with the Lord and bears witness to its belonging to Christ and fidelity to the Church. This assembly cannot be substituted by a solely virtual presence…. [emphasis added]

In 2020 our bishops told us that we could not celebrate the Eucharist together, that we must substitute a virtual presence (or no presence at all). So in order to make the Sabbath holy, faithful Catholics disregarded or circumvented their bishops’ orders.

And you wonder why there’s a crisis of authority in the Church?
