I apologise. I think I was confusing a certain directness with something else. Only just reading this now because on family holiday. I think you're wrong to ascribe insecurity to me. It's more misreading of absence of social niceties. Relative to my social norms, it's respectful engagement to say ‘I don't think this is a good response for x reasons’ rather than ‘not much of a point’. Can you feel where I'm coming from?
