Greetings from the top floor of the Residence Inn, which sounds more impressive than it is. Suffice to say, this particular location could use a makeover in a big way. Had to switch rooms last night due to a noisy HVAC system and a lack of hot water, not that we’ve spent much time here except to sleep. It was another busy day dealing with the minutia of death administration, but much progress has been made. Part of the day was spent teaching my 92 year old mother to use her iPhone, and she now knows how to say “hey Siri” and get the phone to dial a number for her. We’re talking about things she might do to cut down on some expenses (man is Xfinity expensive when you have a few cable boxes, phone and internet). She’s already decided a few things can go (goodbye Amazon Prime, goodbye landline (maybe), goodbye cable (maybe).

My wife was once again the organization warrior, moving from the kitchen to my mother’s closets. My mother is amazed and excited by the change.

More accounts were closed today, I applied for a credit card for my mom which should be here in a few days. Her late husband was the one who had his name on everything; she had no credit in her own name, which is a real issue these days.

I know I’m going to be down here again in the months ahead, helping my sister once she gets back from her travels.

Shout out to all of you who have kindly shared your own experiences, offered condolences, and otherwise took a moment to read my words. I know this isn’t my usual fare. I appreciate your kind words and advice. It means a lot.

A few shots from past trips to Frederick, MD, including one of me and my mom from last May. No time to get out with a camera on this trip.
