It’s Ash Wednesday, and my Substack is full of beautiful articles & ideas from Anglicans, Catholics, Lutherans and other liturgical Christian writers honoring this day. I am too — but I’m evangelical (in a non-liturgical church tradition). As our family has followed the church calendar for the past 5 years, we’ve gotten some side eye from evangelicals (“that’s Catholic”) and from the liturgists (“you can’t observe the calendar outside a sacramental tradition”).
