I was watching the beautiful recording of St Michael’s Abbey (Orange County) praying the Stations of the Cross, and in between each Station, a choir was singing a hymn, so I had to find it! It was ‘Stabat Mater’, a 13th century hymn written by a Franciscan friar. These words here in Latin I just thought were so beautiful: Stabat mater dolorósa juxta Crucem lacrimósa/At the Cross her station keeping, Stood the mournful Mother weeping.
