I’m in my 70s, raised in south Texas & I distinctly remember being taught that the Civil War was fought over States Rights & “economic reasons”; like the North was trying to ruin the South’s cotton production. LOL

And exactly how was it that they were going to ruin the cotton industry???? 🙄
