Burney Falls, located within McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park in Shasta County, is a 129-foot (39 m) waterfall that cascades from underground springs and surface water, maintaining a massive flow of 100 million gallons daily even during dry summer months.
Renowned for its unique geological formation where water seeps through volcanic basalt before plunging into a turquoise pool, the site was declared a National Natural Landmark in December 1954 and famously dubbed the "Eighth Wonder of the World" by President Theodore Roosevelt.
Location: Approximately 60 miles northeast of Redding, accessible via Highway 89.
Best Time to Visit: The falls are at their most intense from early April through October when snowmelt peaks
