A new day, a new Kal Arath game.
Name: Sarnar
STR: 0, TOU: 0, AGI: 0, INT: 2, PRE: 2
HP: 1
Skill: Make a Demonic Pact (Shadow)
Doom: Each new moon, the caster must sacrifice something of great value.
I have a staff and (d6) 3 rations.
I’ve come to Kal Arath to make a demon pact with the mighty demon lord Akkai in Q’arzh, But to do so requires overcoming 3 challenges that kills nearly every applicant…or worse.
It is summer.
How long until the next new moon? 2d6 = 5 days.
I am (2d6) 11 hexes from Q’arzh.
Day 1
Weather: 6
A windstorm came across the plains. It rips up my tent to pieces up in the sky. I stagger around, looking for somewhere to take shelter. Lost? Yes.
POI: Yes → Settlement
Size: Village
Dominant Faction: Mixed (2 Merchant Guilds and a Local Militia)
Reaction: 7 → Neutral
The village streets are mainly empty as I struggle against the mighty winds. The villagers are holed up in their houses, windows boarded up as best they can against the storm.
NPC:
Elder, Overcome Fear, Thoughtful
An old man opens his door as I pass and beckons me inside.
I hurry inside, happy to be out of the elements. I can hear the wind howling against the walls.
“Thank you,” I say.
“What brings you to Thraz-rand?” The old man asks, having me sit near his fire place.
“I’m heading to Q’arzh. Do you know the way?”
The old man nods. “I know many things, as do many others here. Information is our trade.”
As we talk, I try to gain information.
PRE: 9 → success
“What else can you tell me of your village?”
"Two merchant guilds hold sway, led by rival families. They are kept in check, barely, by the local militia. Incidents between the families occurs every so often. Recently, a member of the militia was found taking bribes. Dishonored, he was stripped of everything and banished. Tensions are high.” The elder stood and went deeper into his house, returning with a bedroll. “You may sleep here for the night.”
I thank him.
Sleep. -1 Ration. 2 left.
No encounter.
