Ever since I first took a body composition test, I have been trying to reduce by body fat below 20%, with minimal luck. Until recently.
My InBody test finally reported 19% body fat!
Surprisingly, my lifestyle changes were not radical: I continued enjoying light desserts, indulged in my favorite ice cream during summer, and avoided extreme diets.
The real game-changer was the immediate implementation of insights, no matter how minor they appeared. For instance, upon learning about the metabolic benefits of ice baths, I incorporated a brief 20-30 second cold shower into my routine. Similarly, inspired by the ancient Indian practice of intermittent fasting, I cut out snacks between meals and moved my dinner time earlier by an hour. Weight training is essential for fat loss, an unfortunate fact for a person who hates gyms! So, I started doing app-led body-weight exercises at home.
Point is, sometimes getting started with what's most feasible is more important than waiting for the most perfect setup.
This principle is just as relevant in product management. For example,
- Eager to boost your technical prowess? Start by coding a simple "Hello World" in any programming language instead of postponing that tutorial.
- Aim to cultivate a customer-centric team? Initiate regular customer interactions yourself, rather than waiting for a formal program from your user research team.
- Keen on becoming AI-savvy? Commit to incorporating AI tools into your daily tasks.
Significant achievements often stem from modest, actionable steps. There's a minimum viable for everything in life and in product. Getting started is the key.
