Sometimes, the sense of peace I find in the garden surprises me. Yesterday, I took a slow noticing walk around the garden checking on newly planted seeds and watering a few things with rain water. One iris bloomed, one peony about to. Then, I put together this posy while my husband made supper, the smell of garlic and soy sauce wafting into the yard. I carried it into the kitchen while he tended to the tofu. He looked up and smiled at me and the flowers, two people exchanging the most beautiful of gifts.
