War and Peace—one chapter a day is very easy-going. I’m never sure how much of it I’m absorbing, or understanding? But it’s not onerous or unpleasant, I feel like I’m along for the ride so far.
Don Quixote has made me laugh out loud maybe more times than any other book—it really is as ridiculous as everyone makes it out to be. And five chapters per week doesn’t feel like drudgery yet.
David Copperfield took the first couple chapters to hook me—but I’m on chapter 13 and well ahead of my one-per-week schedule. It’s growing on me. (I feel like it ought to be read beside a fireplace?)
The Brothers Karamazov—I’ve read it once all the way through. Now that I’m taking my time—and reading two translations side by side—Book One is so much more vivid and alive than I remember. So glad to be immersing myself in this one.
As if this wasn’t enough homework— meg has brought to my attention that Paradise Lost is divided into twelve parts, so imma try to squeeze that into my 2026 pile just in the nick of time 😅
