I just wanted to share these words from Vinh Giang following the senseless attack at Bondi Beach in Australia yesterday. A beach I have sat on with my family on Christmas Day not so long ago.

It’s important to note in the political and societal storm that now brews, there were not only Jews celebrating Hanukkah on that day, there were people not of the Jewish faith, International travellers and non Jewish people enjoying time at the beach.

While this was clearly a targeted attack, the important thing to remember is that this was a senseless heinous act against innocent people of all faiths. NONE of these people deserved to lose their lives. Indeed the hero of the day was clearly not of the Jewish faith.

All the families of those murdered will be faced with today are empty chairs at the dinner table, and empty rooms never to be blessed with the presence of their loved ones again. May all their memories be a blessing.

We are living in troubled times where evil politicians and malign actors are fomenting division and hate for political gain. There are no winners, just graveyards filled with the bodies of the innocent who lost their lives as a result of warped senseless ideology.

Remember the future is in our hands, because there are more good people in this world than those serving at the alter of greed power and hate and religious ideology.
