Thinking I need to read more fiction. The east-west crossover of Murakami is intriguing. I’m not sure about the magical realism. Historical fiction is probably my preference. (I’ve been working through Pearl Buck’s Good Earth trilogy.) But Anthropocene concerns make me want to explore psychological and social alternatives to present realities.

I’m curious also about the loneliness angle. Samantha Rose Hill , have you read any Murakami?
